Symptom : Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
Ifrequently used to suffer from work-related stress and would become anxious easily, and so was troubled by GERD for a long time. It began with symptoms such as belching and acid regurgitation, which then progressed into chest pain and tightness. Because I was worried about experiencing the GERD symptoms, I didn’t eat a lot. My weight dropped from 61 kgs to 56 kgs. My friends and family were concerned about how gaunt I had become. I looked at myself in the mirror;it never occurred to me that I would become that skinny.
After undergoingan upper endoscopy, the western medicine doctor advised me to take antacids. I did not like to take Western medicine, so I did some online research about GERD and found that the effects of antacids would decrease after taking them for a long period of time. Many people suffering from GERD mentioned online the positive effects they had observed from using Chinese medicine. With the referral of my female friend and the recommendations of many people online, I decided to visit Dr. Wen.
I can still remember the moment I stepped into Dr. Wen’s clinic for my first visit; I saw many patients with needles inserted all over their heads. I had never seen this kind of thing before, so I kept doubting the effectiveness of such a treatment. When it was my turn to see Dr. Wen, I told him that I felt tightness in my chest. Dr. Wen asked me to take a deep breath and then inserted a few needles in my head. He asked me how I felt. All I said was that I felt magical because the tightness in my chest was no longer there.
As I was prone to becominganxious very easily, I often experienced GERD. With a few follow-up treatments and the medicine powder carefully mixed by Dr. Wen, I gradually noticed that my GERD symptoms had been alleviated considerably. By the halfway stage of the second course of treatments, my diet had returned to normal. I no longer experienced the reflux of stomach acid into my esophagus. Broadly speaking, I have seen a great improvement in my GERD symptoms.
Furthermore, because I had hepatitis B (even though test results had been within the normal range) and was under great pressure at work and in life, I used to feel tired easily. However, after receiving the acupuncture treatment and having the Chinese medicinal drinks for some time, to my surprise, my spirits were lifted. Now, I did not get tired so easily. I once sought advice from Dr. Wen about this. He told me that the treatment effects of Chinese medicine on hepatitis could be as good as Western medicine. If I persevered, I would definitely see positive results.
I am grateful for Dr. Wen’s attentiveness in treating me; my GERD has been alleviated significantly, and I am once again able to lead a normal and fulfilling life.
