Symptom : Dry eye syndrome
I was studying abroad in the United States. I came back to Taiwan around April 2020 and started treatment with Dr. Wen’s at the clinic around the middle of May. I first visited the clinic while accompanying my father during his therapy session. He had a stroke several months ago and was being treated by Dr. Wen. While at school, the laptop was something that I had to use daily. Basically I used the computer to take notes, to view PowerPoint presentations and to review notes after class. Furthermore, pages of assigned reading were required for every course that I took. These readings included textbooks, research articles, and various case studies. In order to save paper, these texts were often printed in a very small font. Before bedtime, I would often find entertainment on my phone to relieve the pressure and stress accumulated during the day. For a long period of time, these habits resulted in a rapid deterioration for my vision.
I began to feel discomfort in my eyes. My eyes started to sore and dry at the end of the day. I was very worried about this because I am in my twenties, and if this issue gets worse, what is going to happen when I am older? It is common knowledge that visual problems could be irreversible and worsen over time without invasive procedures. I consulted this concern with Dr. Wen while my father was receiving his treatment. Dr. Wen confidently says he could help me with my problem.
After the first session, I felt an immediate improvement for my eyes. My eyes began to moisturize, my vision was brighter and clearer just a few minutes after. I have had other experiences with acupuncture, and it was never like this. A typical preconceived notion for Chinese medicines is that they could be painfully slow. The immediate effect of Dr. Wen’s skills are astonishing and unbelievable. Moreover, Dr Wen’s expertise in acupuncture far exceeded neurological diseases.
During my time of treatment, I was also preparing for an upcoming license exam for nurses. It is very difficult and I was very stressed. I have often lost sleep and was experiencing severe anxiety. The day before the exam, my mom told Dr. Wen that I have been having trouble dealing with the test. Again Dr. Wen said it is treatable and promptly applied needles to pressure points associated with my discomfort. Prior to the acupuncture, my heartbeat would raise whenever I think of the exam. After receiving the treatment, my heartbeat would maintain the same speed even when constantly reminded of the upcoming test. I felt significantly less nervous. The funniest thing occurred that day when I went back home. I was looking for my passport because it was required for identity verification at the testing center the next day. However, I was not able to find the passport. Instead of me frantically panicking, it was my mother who appeared to be very worried. My mom said to me, "don't panic! calm down and we can look for it together!" while I was perfectly calm. Normally people should be anxious when presented with this kind of situation, but I could not be more serene due to the treatment I received earlier. I was again surprised by Dr. Wen’s skill. Who would have thought that acupuncture is also effective when dealing with stress and anxiety.
I am very grateful to Dr. Wen. It has been an absolute privilege to be treated by him. My father’s recovery has also been progressing more rapidly after each session. It is absolutely amazing that a small needle can yield such an incredible therapeutic effect. Dr. Wen has no doubt given many patients a better and healthier life.
