I thank Dr. Wen for his skillfulness in curing my facial nerve palsy.

Although I missed the “golden period” for treatment for my facial nerve palsy—two weeks following the onset—and it wasn’t until after that period that I found Dr. Wen, I was deeply grateful to Dr. Wen for his supreme medical skills. Within just three months, he cured 95% of my facial nerve palsy. Had I not met Dr. Wen, I would have had a drooping face for the rest of my life! It’s natural for any girl to want to look attractive, so it would be unbelievably frustrating if half of my face was drooping. Fortunately, thanks to Dr. Wen’s magical needles, you couldn’t tell any signs of facial nerve palsy.

It happened during my trip to Vancouver, Canada during my summer break back in 2017. I took a stroll in the wind along the beach for 2 or 3 hours. A few days later, I started to develop a fever. My doctor diagnosed me with a cold. However, a week had passed and my fever had still not subsided. I then experienced rashes, blisters and significant pains in my right ear canal, coupled with paralysis in my right cheek, a slanted lip on the right side and the inability to fully lower my upper right eyelid. After visiting the doctor again, I was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy. Since my condition was so bad as to affect the peripheral facial nerves, resulting in the weakness and palsy on one side of my face, my doctor prescribed 10-day antiviral medication. He told me that there would be no other medication available if I still needed it having completed this course of medication. He also informed me that the level of recovery from Bell’s palsy varies from person to person, and there remains no effective medication. I came back home in an anxious state of mind. I thought my condition would improve after taking medication. However, despite the fact that the rashes, blisters and pain in the right ear were somewhat alleviated, my symptoms of numbness and the slanting of the lip worsened significantly.

A few days later, I visited an ER department in the expectation that a major hospital would be able to offer more effective treatment. I waited at the ER for almost 5 hours. Eventually, I saw a tall and handsome doctor coming towards me. Before he began treating me, he told me that I had to pay a 380 CAD consultation fee because I did not have health insurance in Vancouver. I paid immediately in the hope that the doctor could help me as soon as possible. After asking me a few questions and checking me over for five minutes, he stoically said “Yes, you have Bell’s palsy. Besides the medication prescribed by your doctor at the clinic, there are no other treatments available for you. If it gets better, it gets better. If not, then that’s just the way it is. No doctor could say for certain whether you would be able to recover from it completely.” He then looked at me sympathetically with his charming blue eyes and said, “it’s awful, isn’t it?” Oh my God! I was speechless! He could not do anything about it at all. Suddenly this blue-eyed doctor was not at all handsome! I left the hospital with a heavy heart, feeling frustrated and dejected. I even had to pay another 360 CAD for the ER medical fee. In total, it cost me 740 CAD (approximately 20,000 NTD) and took 5 to 6 hours. What I gained in return was disappointment and helplessness!

Fortunately, after returning to Taiwan, I found several patient testimonials online. Eventually, I came across Dr. Wen. I recall that it was the fifth week following my onset of Bell’s palsy that I visited Dr. Wen for the first time. In that first visit, Dr. Wen said to me confidently, “Please rest assured. Leave it to me. I am an expert in treating facial nerve palsy. I have cured a great many patients. Although you missed the two-week-long golden period after the onset of the disease, as long as you are committed to the treatment and come to see me every day, I can guarantee that you will recover from it completely.” Gosh! Just when I had been told that all Western doctors could do nothing about my illness, Dr. Wen was now certain that he could cure me. What a remarkable turnaround! All of a sudden, this amazing doctor in front of me was way more handsome than that blue-eyed doctor who had said “if it gets better, it gets better. If not, then that’s just the way it is.” Of course, I committed myself wholeheartedly to the treatment and visited the clinic every day. Day by day, I subsequently saw my drooping face gradually returning to its normal position. After receiving the treatment for approximately one month, my philtrum returned to its normal position in the middle of my face. I was able to shut my right eye. The right side of my lips returned most of the way—almost 80%—to their normal position. After three months of acupuncture treatment, I experienced a greater than 90% recovery. Now, there are almost no signs of facial nerve palsy on the right side of my face.

I thank Dr. Wen for having a heart like that of a parent. He treats patients as if they are his own family and sees their pain as his own pain. Thanks to his expert medical skills, I experienced immediate curative effects. I cannot praise Dr. Wen highly enough!
